GOLD PROSPECTORS ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA
GOLD PROSPECTORS ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA
The Augusta, Georgia Chapter of the Gold Prospectors Association of America was established in 2001 with the goal of uniting people together throughout the Central Savannah River Area who had an interest in gold prospecting. Over the years our club has expanded and grown to include many members from Evans to Aiken to Thomson to McCormick and beyond! Our location in Georgia places us well within driving distance to many of the rich gold deposit sites, especially in the northern mountains, that set the stage for the major southern gold rush beginning in 1829. More locally, we have found many gold bearing creeks in the Thomson/Lincolnton/McCormick area, where we conduct several club outings each year!
Any individuals residing in the CSRA who have an interest in gold prospecting, rock hounding, or metal detecting are welcome to join the Augusta Chapter of the GPAA. Whether you have years of experience or you are just a beginner, our club is open to anyone regardless of experience level. Our members have a variety of different equipment (including the basic pans, sluice boxes, dredges, and highbankers) and are ready to share their knowledge with fellow club members. We do not charge any club dues, but all our members are expected to eventually become a member of the national Gold Prospectors Association of America organization.
The Augusta Chapter of the GPAA meets regularly on the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM at Putt-Putt Fun Center.
3763 Martinez Blvd.
Martinez, Georgia 30907
The Augusta Chapter of the GPAA leases a claim in McCormick, South Carolina solely for our members to access and prospect. Members are required to pay a nominal fee of $5 per month with a six month commitment required to gain access to the property. This fee helps cover the lease and property maintenance. Members who's dues are up to date will receive a code to unlock the entrance gate.
We encourage our members to become part of the largest gold prospecting organization in the nation! Membership includes access to 296 member exclusive gold properties, 52,000+ acres of mineable land, issues of the Gold Prospectors Magazine, & much more.
